We got a reminder that 2016 is not over last night, as the tragic deaths of 2016 continued when it was announced that Growing Pains star Alan Thicke died at the age of 69. That is very young, especially for someone that was still out and about doing acting gigs. Thicke was recently seen on This Is Us and Fuller House! With the shocking death of Alan Thicke, we saw some special notes from his family and costars.
Thicke was a Canadian actor and TV host that was best known for playing Jason Seaver on the hit show Growing Pains, which ran from 1985 to 1992 on ABC. The cast also consisted of Joanna Kerns, Kirk Cameron, Tracey Gold, Jeremy Miller and Ashley Johnson.
It is being reported that Thicke suffered from a heart attack while playing hockey with his real-life son Carter Thicke. He was taken to a Los Angeles area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Carter shared this sweet message on Twitter:

Just two days ago, his wife Tanya Thicke shared this photo of the couple together:
So, everything looked fine and dandy in the world of Alan Thicke and then he ends up dead. So, so sad! Kirk Cameron, Thicke’s on-screen son, shared this touching messages: “I spent Monday through Friday for seven important years with Alan Thicke as my ‘TV dad.’ I am so blessed to have grown up with him. Chelsea and I send our love and prayers to his family tonight. We will cherish the memories… ‘sharing the laughter and love.’”
Joanna Kerns replied to tweets regarding Thicke’s death with some sweet thoughts:
